It’s about time we gave Popstrangers some love. The three piece have staked their claim in London since arriving here from New Zealand over a year ago, releasing their 2013 debut Antipodes to critical acclaim. In the months since, their sophomore effort Fortuna was recorded at Hackney Road Studios and released, once again via Carpark Records, a few weeks back. ‘Country Kills’ is the latest single – complete with an unforgettable pop chorus and an overall sound that is characteristic of the new record – one that is slightly more psych-tinged than Antipodes’ grunge fest. We could make a bunch of tenuous band comparisons but the fact is it’s pretty original. Can’t recommend the album enough.
