KMD – ‘Black Bastards’ the Popup Book (and CD / 45)

The fact you’re on a site called Peach Fuzz right now is reason enough for you to know we’re fans of KMD, so needless to say we’re stoking on this release. MF DOOM’s first group and their controversial sophomore release Black Bastards (Bl_ck B_st_rds) is being reissued by DOOM’s own Metalface Records imprint for Record Store Day 2015 in the format of a children’s pop-up book. Alongside the book, the package includes two CDs – the original album and second disc of bonus material – and a 7-inch picture disc of “What A Nigga Know”, housed in the back cover featuring the group’s iconic “Sambo” mascot. The heads out there might appreciate how fundamental Black Bastards was to the MF DOOM persona and solo career; when Elektra records saw the cover art for this album, they didn’t shelve or push back the release, they just told the group’s leader (known then as Zev Luv X) to leave. He was never to return unmasked. Get the book et al at Rappcats.
