Maurizio Cattelan – L.O.V.E. Snow Globe

Maurizio Cattelan wins no awards for subtlety with his latest work – partnering with the MoMA Design Store to release the L.O.V.E. snow globe. Sure, in a way this is classic gift store detritus, but on the other hand, you can’t be mad at the fact that Cattelan’s controversial sculpture (it first appeared in full size, facing the Milan Stock Exchange) now comes in a household friendly package. L.O.V.E. is an acronym for Libertá (freedom), Odio (hate), Vendetta (revenge), and Eternitá (eternity), and while the original was sculpted from solid Carrara marble, this version is made of resin, glass, glitter and water. Use it as a paper weight for you stack of Toilet Paper magazines.

It’ll be available from the MoMA Design Store next week.
