Published in September and debuted at the NY Book Fair, Non Stop Poetry: The Zines of Mark Gonzales is overdue a post here, but it’s worth sharing regardless. Since the early ’90s the Gonz has been creating and self-publishing zines. There are estimated to be around 145 volumes in circulation, although there are probably more given that he hasn’t kept records of his work. These zines are typically DIY affairs, demonstrating a penchant for artwork (of course), but also verse, and importantly, construction of the publication itself. Printed Matter took upon themselves the Herculean task of tracking down as many of these zines as possible, and have re-published them in this rendition of Non Stop Poetry, in an edition of 2,000. Most have probably already gone, so good luck finding one.*
