New Love is the latest book from Chinese photographer Ren Hang – his first official US monograph – and the newest release from New York’s Session Press. The publication presents Hang’s most recent photographs, taken in February of this year during his first visit to NYC. Essentially in New Love we get the best of both sides of Hang; from casual snap shots taken of friends in parks, cafés, streets, and apartments in Brooklyn and Manhattan, to the striking nude photos he has becoming increasingly renowned for. It’s all tied together by a playfulness and nonchalance that set Hang apart from the pack.
New Love has been published to mark Hang’s upcoming exhibition of the same name, running June 19 – July 25 at matchbaco gallery in Tokyo, Japan. Find a copy here.
