SKIN: A Portrait of the Mighty Mongrel Mob

New Zealand filmmaker Tom Gould presents an arresting study of Martyka ‘Skin Dog’ Brandt – a member of the Mighty Mongrel Mob – in his new short film, Skin. The Mob are NZ’s largest and most notorious gang, comprised predominantly of Maori and Pacific Islanders, although Martyka is one of a handful of Pakeha (white boy) members. In the film, Martyka discusses his upbringing, acceptance into the Mob and the changes his children have brought about in him. It’s a captivating watch – beautifully shot by Tom.
