Remember the glass house from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off? The one that Ferris’ best friend Cameron and his tyrannical old man lived in? Well it’s just sold for approximately £1.37 million – a fraction of the price it was originally listed for. The modernist four bedroom residence was built in 1953 by James Speyer, a student of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, with an additional glass pavilion designed by David Haid constructed 20 years later to house the owner’s car collection. Located in Highland Park, Chicago, it seems incredible that such an iconic home could sell for so relatively little. An investment banker and lawyer are reportedly set to move in soon – there’s no mention of a hypochondriac son yet.
