When he’s not singing away or inviting controversy for some old quote or other, Morrissey is a damn fine art director. The 27 Smiths’ sleeves all have incredible stories behind them. NME have just published an article going into light detail on all 27 covers. A lot of them celebrate the kind of Kitchen Sink Britain that seems so far removed from the modern day, yet equally look pretty damn modern. It’s difficult to pick favourites but I think I’m going to plump for Candy Darling on the cover of Sheila Take A Bow.
