Well this is awesome. From the deepest post-disco archives of Chicago UHF station WCIU, the expert crate-diggers at Numero have salvaged near-forgotten episodes of The Chicago Party for a new compilation: Ultra-High Frequencies: The Chicago Party. WCIU were the same people who brought Soul Train to light in the early ’70s, and almost a decade later, over twenty three straight Saturday nights in 1982, they gave the world The Chicago Party, a whacky dance programme that blended oddball humour with Chicago post-disco. Within the CD/LP/DVD compilation, Numero have compiled five previously unreleased tracks, joined by music from forgotten 45s and 12″ records, as well as a 100-minute video mixtape that includes highlights from the show. Check out one of the clips above, featuring a gang of masked dancers.
